Maddie’s last night as a quad pawd….

March 17th 2011 in Uncategorized

I am Maddie’s Mom and this is Ms Maddie Mae’s story.
Dec 6th, 2010 she came to live with me as a foster dog from Texas Cattle Dog Rescue. She was pulled out of a ditch culvert with a badly broken leg (an old injury) and a litter of puppies. She also turned out to be heart worm positive. She was spayed and we treated her for her heartworms and now it is time to deal with her leg.

Tonight is her last night as a quad-pawd 🙁

update tomorrow…..

Nope–ya gotta make that frownie face into a smiley face! How come? Because after tomorrow, Maddie won’t be in pain from a terrible injury any longer! That’s a cause to celebrate! Think about it–if you had an old, painful injury and could have surgery to make the pain stop, wouldn’t you make a smiley face?

The first day home will probably be a breeze, and the next couple probably won’t be. After that, it will likely get better and keep on, though it may be baby steps. But don’t worry, because you have access to tons of info and advice here, everything from beds to hiding pills (Velveeta!) to doggie footwear.

Let us know tomorrow how Maddie does during surgery, and turn that frown upside down! I’ll be thinking about you.

Thanks. You are right. I guess I am just being the worried Mom wishing there was another way.
I’ll give updates tomorrow as I get them. Thanks 🙂

Maddie sounds like quite a fighter! Thanks for sharing her story. Best wishes for a quick, complete recovery.

Thank you. Yes, she is a fighter. Quite a spunky little girl considering all she has been through. Typing right now as she is lying next to me on the couch snoring 🙂
